I've never attended a documentary film festival before. Being a new member of this community, attending this festival with a large swath of the population here was an excellent experience. Things were organized, pleasant, and enjoyable. Of course, certain films were overwhelming, but I happen to believe that's a good thing. I also appreciated the diversity of subjects. My favorite was 10 Questions for the Dalai Lama. The one I thought most difficult to watch was about people starving in Tanzania. I'm grateful I was able to see each one I was able to view. It's a added plus for me that there were free tickets in the local phone book. I'm very grateful the committee chose this way to enable more people to attend the festival.
