This idea which the review seems to legitimize- the theory which alleges that the “Christ myth” [as fellows of the Jesus Seminar such as Earl Doherty, John Shelby Spong, Robert Price, Bart Ehrman, etc tend to call it] originated from ANE religions and that the gospels are essentially just euhemerizations of solar mythological deities- has no serious backing from any critical scholar, and was debunked almost 150 years ago, back during the old religionsgeschichtliche schule.

A recent surge of interest has risen in this theory, most notably its insertion and segment into the now Google-crazed video sensation Zeitgeist, and Zeitgeist: Annendum- Sadly, many people who see these videos think there has been no adequate response or rebuttal from the intellectual Christian front and never see how flawed thus hypothesis truly is.

Unfortunately for them, the theory is well debunked and refuted and has been for years.
Don’t be fooled by Bill Maher or “Peter Joseph”s sly arguments against religion or the Christian faith. Just because there may be a few wackos who malign the name doesn’t mean that it is not “the way, the truth and the life.” [John 14:6]
