Richard wants people to value evidence, and by believing in religion you are not doing so. He is not a fundementalist, because show him the evidence and his mind will change. That is simply basing belief on reason and evidence, it is not one dimensional.

Dawkin’s rhetoric is almost as simple and one dimensional as the religious rhetoric he’s so ardently opposed to. Dawkins would prefer we were all scientists — indoctrinated with science. He replaces a religion of god with a religion of science. Science is his god and he’s just as much a fundamentalist as the people he criticizes — thus exposing us to the same dangers he want us to fear. Listening to a scientist educate me about theology makes about as much sense as having a theologian educate me about science.
